Overview

Access to Grado is unified across all user types.

Each school is assigned a unique Grado school code or a subdomain, which serves as the single point of entry for everyone—administrators, faculty, and students alike.

Once a user logs in, Grado automatically detects their account type and opens the corresponding portal view.

This means users don’t need to memorize separate links for the Admin, Faculty, or Student portals—just one Grado portal for the entire institution.

Accessing Grado

To sign in, users can log in using either of the following methods:

  • Standard Login
Requires the school’s code, user ID, and password.

  • Google Single Sign-On (SSO)
For schools using Google Workspace or Gmail accounts registered in Grado.

After login, Grado automatically redirects the user to the correct portal dashboard depending on their role.

Example:
A faculty member and a student both use the same portal link (e.g., schoolname.grado.works).
After login, the faculty member lands on the Faculty Dashboard, while the student is directed to their Student Dashboard.

User Account Types

Admin Users

Admin users handle the core operations of the school. Through the Admin Portal, they can:

  • Manage student, faculty, and staff records

  • Handle assessments and payments

  • Set up academic structures, programs, and sections

  • Oversee enrollment and scheduling

Grado uses role-based access control (RBAC) to ensure that each user can access only what’s relevant to their role.

Administrators can:

  • Assign predefined roles (e.g., Registrar, Cashier, Adviser), or

  • Create custom roles for specific tasks or permissions.

This structure helps maintain data integrity and keeps system access secure and organized.

For example:

  • A Cashier may only access billing and payment modules.

  • A Registrar focuses on enrollment, student records, and academic setup.

By defining specific permissions, Grado ensures that admins can perform their tasks efficiently and securely—without unnecessary access to unrelated data.

Faculty Accounts

Faculty members access Grado through the Faculty Portal, which helps them manage their classes and advise students. They can:

  • View class lists and submit grades

  • Drop students from classes when necessary

  • Participate in the enrollment process as advisers, recommending or approving class schedules

This setup ensures faculty have the right tools for academic management while supporting students throughout their studies.

Student Accounts

Students use the Student Portal to stay informed and manage their academic journey. Depending on the school’s permissions, students can:

  • View grades and class schedules

  • Track progress using their program checklist

  • Update personal profiles

  • Enroll in classes through self-enrollment (if enabled)

The student portal gives learners easy access to essential academic information and supports them in staying on track toward program completion.

Summary

Each user role in Grado has tailored permissions to ensure efficiency, security, and accountability.
By defining access levels clearly, Grado helps schools maintain smooth operations while safeguarding sensitive information.
